The interview process involved 3 interviews. The first was with HR, the second for a technical test, and the third with the team manager in Paris. These interviews were fast and good. I got the interview schedule in one week, with about 2 days between each interview.

I interviewed for a senior software engineer role at GoPro about four months back, and it was a bit of a mixed experience. The initial outreach from the recruiting firm was good, and we talked about my background and what I was looking for salary-wise. The GoPro recruiter I chatted with was nice too, and we had a solid talk about my potential contributions. Even though the recruiting firm and GoPro recruiter and I discussed salary upfront, the final offer was way lower than I expected. The interview stages themselves, including a good chat with the hiring manager and a thorough technical test, went pretty well. I nailed the coding exercise, and the recruiter quickly started the internal offer process. But then, the offer came in as a lowball, a good $20K less than the range I'd already shared. When I turned down the first offer and restated my expectations, the recruiter mentioned company constraints, saying engineers with way more experience (like 12 years) were making less. That made me feel like my skills weren't valued, and it was a bummer that the work I put into the interviews didn't translate into a decent offer. While some parts of the interview were positive, the big gap between my salary expectations and the final offer made me hesitant about GoPro's commitment to fairly compensating experienced engineers. The whole negotiation felt like a waste of time, and it made me wonder if they really value senior engineers. Plus, the fast promotion of junior folks to senior roles in a short period is also a bit questionable, based on their marketing videos. So, yeah, I can't really recommend GoPro for engineers looking for fair pay and recognition.

I got contacted by a tech recruiter, so I bypassed the typical HR chat. First, I had a phone call with the hiring manager. We chatted about me, and they told me about the company and the team. I was asked some basic tech questions. Then, they brought me on-site for a live coding session. The manager and three other developers were there. I had a task to finish within about two hours. They made sure I felt comfortable and emphasized it wasn't a test but more to see my workflow.
