Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Goodwill.
Cashier
The process was pretty straight forward. I was asked a few questions, talked about my experience, and got to ask any clarification questions I had. It was a good experience even though I didn't end up taking the role.
- Have you worked in customer service or retail before?
Store Associate
The interview was very informal. It was set up for several candidates with several interviewers, but it ended up being one-on-one because the other candidates didn't show up and the other interviewers were unavailable. They didn't give much detail about the job, mostly asking about my experience. I didn't get a reply afterward.
- Can you describe your past experience?
Cashier
The store manager was on vacation but called me from his personal cell phone. He didn't share his full name or the company name, which was unprofessional. The interview was scheduled for 9am, but the interviewer wasn't there on time. I was interviewed by someone else. During the interview, there were four interruptions, two from in-house employees and two phone calls. My interviewer got distracted after each interruption, lost her place, and overlooked my answers. She did say I'd be a great fit and, even though I applied for one role, she offered me another based on my past experience.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What contributions can you make to our company?
- What makes you a suitable candidate for this position?
