First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Goodwill.
Supervisor
The same day I walked in and asked I was offered a job on the spot. I know for many the same could not be said. Appearances and attitude matter since I saw a lot of people come through our doors that did not keep consistency in presentation.
- What can you do for us?
- Do you have any questions?
- Would you be okay with outdoor tasks?
Supervisor
I applied for the shift supervisor role, but was open to other positions. I arrived a bit early, and the hiring manager met me right on time and brought me into his office. He was very friendly and helped me relax. It was a small, comfortable office, and he had a two-page list of questions for me about specific situations, like dealing with rude customers. The whole interview lasted about 20 minutes. I received a call later that day offering me a retail associate position, which I took.
- Can you describe a time when you had to take charge of a situation?
- What are your reasons for wanting to work at GoodWill?
- If you were offered a position here, what would be your plan?
Shift Supervisor
I applied, and they called me the next day for an interview. I've had three interviews total, each with a different person. They were all very nice and relaxed. Each interview, they asked me the same questions. We also discussed my work history in length. They do a background check, that is estimated at 2 weeks length, and a drug urinalysis.
- What motivates you to want to work for this company?
- Tell me about your previous work experience.
