First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Goodman Solutions.
CAD Drafter
I got referred to the company by a friend who had worked there before. He sent my resume over, and after about 2-3 weeks, I got a call. We chatted briefly about my availability and what the job was about, and then we scheduled a phone interview for two weeks later. During the phone interview, they asked me technical questions about CAD software, my experience with it, and how I'd deal with tricky coworkers or projects. It was all pretty straightforward, and the guys I spoke with were really nice. I then set up an in-person interview for the following week. When I went in, it was more of a meet-and-greet with the heads of the CAD drafting and engineering teams. They went over the job details more and what they expected from me. I assured them I was ready for it, and then we just chatted about local happenings. About 3 days later that week, I got my offer, and the next week I did the background check and drug test. After all that was sorted, I got an email saying I was officially hired.

Systems Administrator
I started with a phone screen from HR about my resume and a bunch of questions about my experience with different technologies. About 3 days later, I got a call to schedule the first interview. The first time it was scheduled, the interviewer(s) didn't show up. I let HR know, and they quickly got back to me, saying there was a last-minute business conflict and asked to reschedule. The second time around, I was contacted pretty fast, and we did a sort of unusual interview where they asked about my skills and experience. The interviewer seemed unfocused, maybe distracted, because they were responding to emails or computer chats, as I could hear typing. Their answers were often delayed. I guess they were multitasking, but it really felt like it hurt the quality of the interview from my perspective.
- Can you introduce yourself and tell me about your most recent role?
- Do you have experience with x, y, and z?
- How would you handle situation x?
Project Coordinator
A recruiter from the staffing agency Yoh reached out to me because they found my resume online and thought I'd be a good fit for this role at Goodman Networks. The recruiter reformatted my resume and sent it to me and the client. I had to print it and bring it to the interview. The interview was a panel with 5 people, and it felt rushed, lasting only about 15 minutes. One panelist didn't ask any questions and seemed disengaged. They asked about my past experience and if I knew certain procedures. I didn't get the job offer because the other candidate had more experience, which made sense as it was a temporary, albeit well-paying, position.
- Do you know how to close out jobs?
Recruiter
The interview process was conducted by the Director of Talent Acquisition and a Manager. It was very concise and to the point. They asked questions about my previous recruiting experiences and talked about the opportunities with Goodman Networks that were present at the time. Things changed after the position was accepted but that didn't have anything to do with the interview process.
- What innovative recruiting strategies have you used to fill hard to fill positions?
