Golin Manager Interview Questions
& Process

The interview process is pretty simple but it can take a while to get from the first interview to an offer. You also have to meet a bunch of people, which is good because you get a better feel for the team you might join.

So I sent my resume to Golin through a friend and then a few months later, the hiring manager emailed me to set up a first interview. We met for coffee near my job and he started by asking what I knew about the company, then he told me all about Golin and his team. A few months after that, I went to the Golin office to interview with two other team members, one of whom would be my supervisor. We mainly discussed my past work that was relevant to what the team needed and what they'd expect from me if I got the job. At this point, my hiring manager asked me for info to justify opening the position, like my salary expectations and which clients I wanted to work with. About a month later, I had my last interview with the managing director of the office. She asked me tough but standard questions like my strengths and weaknesses. About 3 weeks later, I got an offer with the role details. I negotiated once and then accepted. Golin was okay with me starting later so I could take a holiday I had planned.

I was contacted by an Executive Director for a Senior Manager role. The first interview felt relaxed and they showed off their nice DC office. They asked about my event planning skills and how I handle quick thinking. They explained the job and discussed benefits and pay professionally. Then, there was a writing test to do in an hour online. My future manager seemed great and did a good job selling the company's values, what's needed to succeed, and their community goals.
