Software Engineer Trainee
The interview process started with a group discussion (GD) and an aptitude test. For the GD, candidates could choose their own topic. The next round was technical, where we had to build a basic CRUD to-do app using FastAPI in Python, with a simple HTML and vanilla JS frontend. We were allowed to use AI and the internet, and had 1 hour and 30 minutes for the task. After finishing the app, we needed to show the API output in Postman and Jenkins.
- Could you build a simple to-do app with CRUD functionality using FastAPI in Python, including a basic HTML and JavaScript frontend?
- Show me the API's output within Postman.
- Demonstrate the API's output using Jenkins.

I applied online and they reached out. We had an initial chat where they asked about my past projects and work authorization. Then, there was a multiple-choice screening that felt like first or second-year Computer Science material, not too tough. After that, I had a timed video-recorded test, with about 5 minutes per problem. They asked about generics, which I fumbled. They also asked about erasures, and I wasn't sure what they meant, thinking it might be a trick question or a typo. It turns out 'erasures' are a real thing and a common Java question. I thought I had a decent grasp of entry-level Java and SQL, but this test made me feel like I knew nothing. The questions seemed endless, and Java felt completely foreign. They didn't even send a rejection; communication just stopped after that video interview, which was supposed to be followed by a phone interview. I didn't make it past the second round. There were no study guides, and the recruiter just said the test would cover core Java.
- Can you explain what Java generics are?
- Could you describe erasures in Java?

I applied online and they got in touch the next day. They sent some online coding challenges on Codility. If you do well, they call you back. Then they explain that they are scamming you. Stay away, folks, all you'll do is waste time.
- Can you sum up the phone bill using Java?
- And basic SQL?
