I applied for this Associate Product Manager program, which is basically a Management Trainee for PM. The whole recruitment process involved CV screening and then interviews. The interviews were on-site, held at a university as part of a mass recruitment event (I did mine at ITB). It was broken down into 3 stages: initial assessment, initial interview, and final interview. All rounds were conducted entirely in English and were heavily focused on study case questions. They didn't really ask about or seem to care about previous experience; I think the outcome really hinges on how well you handle the study cases. The competition is super tough – I felt like I aced all the interviews but still didn't get the job.

Behavioral Technical Case

I had a couple of interview rounds. The first was a phone call, and the second was in person at the office, with a week between them. I was asked to come to the office, but there was no calendar invite, which I found a bit unprofessional. During the in-person interview, which was with a couple of product managers, it was a 'data round' to check my analytics skills. Initially, they mainly discussed my past work. One of the interviewers was quite rude, interrupting me and struggling to ask questions. Then, I was given a case study to design a dashboard for an app similar to Instagram that handles various features. After discussing the metrics, the interview concluded. The HR then informed me that this data round was an elimination round, which was surprising and frustrating, but I didn't show it. My advice is not to hold elimination rounds in person without proper communication.

Interviewed for Senior Product Manager with them. Recruiters are nice and proactive and do pass on the feedback to you. Coming to the actual interview experience - Had 5 rounds, one each on Product Thinking, Stakeholder management, Values, Engineering understanding and Data understanding. 4 rounds were really nice but the data round was horrible. The data PMs expect you to know and have worked on data tools like R etc and apparently SQL is not enough for them, even if you say that you're always ready to learn on the job. Then you have comments like "You are from institute X, you should have worked on these tools". Pretty denigrating and petty at the same time, in my opinion, since this was not mentioned in my profile or resume anywhere. The other rounds were really nice and challenging and interviewers knew what they were talking about. Overall, a sour experience, considering that things weren't made clear from the start of it in terms of data understanding and requirements. It doesn't matter if you select a candidate or not, but it does matter if you don't filter the candidates properly after looking at their resumes and profiles. The whole experience goes for a toss.
