The whole thing was supposed to be 5 rounds. First, I got a take-home task to fix a data pipeline for an ML model and boost its accuracy. It was pretty simple, and I explained my solution in simple terms. I passed that and went to the next stage, which was a recruiter screening. Standard stuff where they looked at my past experience to see if I was a good fit. Then came a technical interview with two junior folks who grilled me with questions about my resume and ML technical stuff. It was a bit tough, but I got through it. After that was a case study with two senior people, testing my practical ML knowledge and a Gojek business problem. I felt I nailed all the questions, but surprisingly, I didn't get called back for the final round, the bar raiser. The interviewers gave no indication I was doing poorly; they were positive about my answers. So, I'm not sure where I messed up. It was really disappointing that they didn't even bother to give me closure or feedback after all the effort I put in.

I got a coding task about driver logs to predict their online hours for the next week based on the last 21 days. HR said I passed this coding test but they took about 3 months to schedule the next interview. The HR was really unorganized and didn't book my flight, so I booked my return flight myself. On the last day, HR said they booked flights and I had to cancel my own. The interviewers were two freshers, one with 1.5 years experience and another with just 1 month. They were arrogant and giggled during the interview. The girl interviewer seemed clueless about the code and the boy didn't understand it well either. Their main goal seemed to be to offend me, which made me wonder why they called me in the first place. The girl wasn't interested in understanding the code and kept asking about XGBoost even after I said I barely knew it, humiliating me throughout. She also kept typing whenever she found a flaw or disliked an answer, which was annoying. The guy asked some code questions but also didn't grasp the code. It was a terrible experience, way worse than interviews at Amazon. This company seems full of arrogant people and losers.

I got referred for the Data Scientist position at Go-Jek by an employee I met at a conference. After submitting my resume, I was contacted by the recruitment team. The process was quite fast and straightforward. It started with an initial call with a Data Scientist based in Bangalore. Following that, I had a Data Science assignment to complete within two days. Next, I went through a detailed technical interview discussing my previous projects and the assignment's problem statement. After that, I interviewed with the VP of Data Science in Singapore, which was also a technical round. The final round was a 'bar raiser' interview with the Head of People team in Bangalore, and I received an offer the same day. I appreciated how efficient the process was, with the recruitment team being very effective in scheduling interviews.
