Software Engineer
The interview process was pretty disappointing, especially the first part. I was drawn to the company by their values and culture, and the tech challenge, but during the interview, there was a disconnect between what they say and how the conversation went. The interviewer acted like they were doing me a favor by talking to me, instead of having a real chat to see if we'd be a good fit. Their attitude felt dismissive, making it awkward. Interviews are tough enough without feeling like you're not being treated respectfully or like it's not a two-way street. It didn't align with the collaborative vibe they advertise.

I got a referral from a friend who works at GoFundMe. I only had a 30-minute recruiter call and a 30-minute hiring manager call, and the process took about 10 days. I received the recruiter email a day after the referral. The recruiter call happened 2 days later at my earliest convenient. After passing the recruiter screening, the hiring manager call happened a week later. Both rounds were 30 minutes long and focused mainly on behavioral and design process questions. The recruiter was not very communicative and not very clear about the entire process, so I had to send them follow-up emails to understand where we were and the next steps. I think it would be more helpful to outline the entire steps with candidates to avoid confusion.
- Can you tell me about your background?
- What are you looking for in your next role and why?
- What are your compensation expectations?
IT Administrator
I was initially emailed by a recruiter who scheduled a phone chat. During the call, we covered the job details, my background, salary expectations, and the upcoming interview steps. Next, I had interviews with the hiring manager and a team lead where the focus was on culture fit, my attitude, and general work/problem-solving strategies. After positive feedback, the recruiter set up the final round, which was supposed to be a panel but turned into three separate interviews. Some had multiple people, and one was one-on-one. All interviewers were friendly and professional, and the interviews felt conversational, though they had prepared questions. They asked about culture fit, my experience, how I handle challenges, and any new things I'd learned on my own.
- Can you share an instance where you were unable to solve a problem and describe your subsequent actions?
- What's a recent skill you've acquired and what was your learning process?
Customer Care Specialist
The interview process at GoFundMe was structured, friendly, and focused on behavioral and situational questions using the STAR method (they even give you a guide so you can prepare). After an initial recruiter screening, I had a call with the hiring manager, followed by a panel interview that included a live customer support simulation and job shadowing (really helpful). Everyone I spoke with was welcoming and clear about expectations, which made the experience feel human despite being demanding.
- How would you assist a customer if you encountered an issue you weren't sure how to resolve?
- Can you share an experience of managing a challenging customer interaction?
- How do you cope with high-pressure environments?
