it was a pretty standard process, started with a phone screen, then an interview with the hiring manager, followed by a technical interview, and then a few more interviews. The later interviews had some basic technical questions, but they were mostly behavioral and situational questions. Each interview was about 45 minutes long and the questions were pretty common ones.

I had a phone call first, and then was asked to complete an assessment that took two days. Unfortunately, I was declined based on the assessment, with no feedback provided on what they were looking for. It's quite hypocritical given a part of the assessment was about candidate experience, to ask a candidate to spend two days working on something and then ignore them after they spent time on a task working for free. Some reviews suggest I might have dodged a bullet. This experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

Behavioral Technical

The recruiter was pleasant and friendly. The hiring manager, however, was a totally different story. Here was my follow-up email to the recruiter, verbatim: "Hi [Recruiter], Thanks for the followup. As this goes both ways, here is my feedback: It was a pleasure speaking with you. On the other hand, [the hiring manager] could make the slightest effort to give the interviewee some eye contact during an interview; he gave me zero. It caused a major disconnect. He also turned down two plans I put together on what I would do for this role. What hiring manager wouldn’t be impressed by that? The entire conversation felt completely disconnected and therefore I’m not surprised by this. I know this has nothing to do with my qualifications. Feel free to forward this to him." Looking at the company reviews, I surely dodged a bullet. [Queue standard reply from H.R. on apologizing for the experience not being what I expected and that they hope to improve in the future.]

Behavioral Technical

I had an initial phone screening with an internal recruiter. Then, I had a 30-minute phone call with the director of product. After that, they sent me an assessment via email. Both interactions were really nice, and they asked some straightforward questions. The director specifically asked more personal questions based on the experience I described. Although another applicant was ahead of me and got the role, they mentioned they really enjoyed our interactions and would like to reach out in the future, which was a nice personalized touch.
