Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at GM Financial.
Customer Service Associate
There were 3 interviews, and I got the offer, but the drug test place was permanently closed. Nobody was available to help me sort out the next steps. It was very frustrating, and I never actually got the job because no one got back to me after I signed my offer letter.
- The interviews were conducted over Zoom, which was convenient for doing them from home.
Customer Service Representative
I had a behavioral interview for the Customer Service Representative role. It started with two interviewers, whose titles I don't recall, asking a series of non-hypothetical questions. Afterwards, an employee gave me a tour, and I waited for a bit. Then, the VP of customer relations, who I had to ask for her title, asked more questions. These included explaining my career changes and why I was interested in GM Financial. The overall experience was very positive, professional, and the interviewers were friendly and patient.
- Can you share an instance from your past where you handled a change well, and another where you didn't adapt as effectively?
- Describe a situation where you exceeded expectations for a customer and their reaction.
- Tell me about a time you felt a strong connection with a customer and the reasons behind it.
Customer Service Representative
The interview process included star modeling, cause and effect, and resolution. It was very relaxed, and I felt I did well during the interview, however I did not receive an offer. I have worked over 20 years in customer service positions.
- Tell me about a time you faced an obstacle and how you overcame it.
