Assistant Manager
I sent in my CV and they called me to set up an interview. When I went in, they asked me some questions and then told me I could join.
- Are you able to perform calculations quickly?
Cashier Barista
I felt very confident through out the interview. The interviewer sincerely asked the question to understand my taught and experience. That was a quite good interview experience for me. Only negative thing was I would much prefer to join an interview in a little bit less exposed, not in the middle of costumers.
- Do you have prior experience in this line of work?
- What motivates your desire to work as a Barista?
- Have you worked various shifts before?
Barista
I applied online and also handed in my CV in store. I got a call for an interview two days later. The interview was set for 10 AM, so I got to the café at 9:45 AM. But when I arrived, they told me the manager had already left and wouldn't be back for another hour. They gave me a coffee and I waited in the area. When the manager finally returned, he came up to me and started the interview. I had done a lot of research on the company, but they only asked about my availability and if I had previous barista experience. I didn't hear back for a week, so I called them and was offered a trial shift. During this shift, I cleaned tables, emptied and refilled the dishwasher, and scrubbed the floors. I also got a basic intro on how to use the till. I'd heard that some coffee shops use trial shifts to get free labor from candidates who they don't intend to hire, and it became clear this was the case for me since I never heard from them again.
- Can you tell me about your past experience as a barista?
- What's your availability like?
Cashier Barista
The interview was pretty straightforward. They asked some questions, a mix of coffee-related and general ones, like the usual 'why do you want to work here?' kind of stuff. It was nice.
- What motivated your interest in working with them?
