Gloo Interview Questions
& Process

The interview process was a bit disjointed, with no real coordination between the different stages. I went through three separate interviews: one with an external recruiter, another with the hiring manager, and a final one with a team of peers. They all asked basically the same questions. After the last interview, I was told someone would contact me, but I never heard back, so it seems they only reach out if you're selected.

The first interview was a Google Hangout, and then the face-to-face interview was on the same day. Both were pretty long. I was asked to redesign their website on the spot, which I think I did well given I'd just seen it. I then had to set up the next interview with the point of contact and bring wireframes for the site and blog. The next interview started very late, about an hour, because they were finishing another project. Since they were so late, I couldn't even show my work. They did take me out to dinner that evening though, which was nice to get to know them personally. After that, I followed up and didn't hear back for 3 weeks. They eventually said I wasn't "seasoned" enough, which seems to contradict the job description's mention of 3 years of experience. It felt disorganized and off-putting, but everyone was nice. I was then told to set up another interview the following week. When I got there, it took an hour to start because they were running over on time for another project. They were gracious enough to take me out to dinner though, which made it feel a little better to get to know them on a personal level. After that, I sent a follow-up and didn't hear back from them for 3 weeks, only to be told that I wasn't "seasoned" enough for the position.

I went through two interviews with the recruiting firm they use. They liked me. Then I had an onsite interview with Gloo. The hiring manager said my skills were a bit senior for them. After that, there were 3 weeks of silence. I sent two follow up emails and got no response, so I assumed it was a no. I got another offer elsewhere. Then the recruiter emailed again saying Gloo was still interested. I waited a few days to sign the other offer and told them if they wanted me, they could schedule the second onsite interview within a few days. The interview was scheduled for two days later, and the other two designers who interviewed me were unprepared. Their questions and comments showed the design team was mediocre. I pushed for a decision and got a no a day later. They said they were going with another candidate, but I doubt they had a need or another lined up. They just didn't want to decide quickly. The whole process took over 6 weeks. If you need a job, this won't be fast. If you have a job, be my guest, but this is the 3rd review like this. Overall, the interview was easy.

So first you have a phone interview, then an onsite. During the onsite, you'll meet with 2-3 sets of interviewers, each set having 2-3 people, for about 3 hours total. They'll ask about programming, problem-solving, and your past experiences. Lots of discussion and connecting your background to the role. Your social skills are really important. After that, there's a short, easy coding challenge. For example, if you're interviewing for the Backend team, you might do an interview involving a user authentication system. Someone interviewing for an IOS role might have to build a weather app that uses a public API.
