Senior Software Engineer
I had an interview with an HR person about the position, we talked about my experience, the role, and the company. I didn't hear back after that, it was a relaxed conversation. I think my salary expectations weren't aligned with the role.
- Tell me a bit about your professional background
Software Engineer
Apply via LinkedIn, which leads to Gupy. First, a chat with HR about my experiences and the role. If HR approved, I had 5 days to build a REST API for a product class and create unit tests for the service and controller layers. Then, a technical interview with the Tech Lead, Area Manager, and PO to present my technical challenge work. Finally, I'd get feedback on whether I was approved or not.
- Can you tell me about your previous experiences and what you did?
- Is there a relevant contribution you'd like to share?
- What characteristics would you like the team to have?
Software Engineer
I applied online and then got an email to answer some questions, followed by a technical test. After three weeks, they scheduled an interview that lasted two hours with three engineers and the manager. Three days later, I was asked to build a recommendation system from scratch using Jaccard similarity, deploy it on an AWS VM, and write deployment and update scripts, along with database, Kafka deployment, unit tests, and performance tests. I thought it was a lot for a tech test, but I did it. When I asked about the deadline, they said 'as much as I wanted,' which was strange. I sent my solution after a week, and they acknowledged it, telling me to wait. Two weeks passed with no response, so I asked for an update, and the manager said they'd talked about me that week and would give me an answer soon. Another week went by, and I emailed again, getting the same response. They never ended up answering me. I understand my solution might not have been perfect, but after giving someone such a large task, you owe them a response, even if it's negative feedback.
- Could you explain what an A-B test is?
- Tell me about your background.
- Can you discuss data structures?
