Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at GlobalFoundries.
Associate Engineer
It was a face to face interview process. They asked about my semiconductor experiences, my attitude, my mindset, and my leadership qualities. I also had to explain my past job experiences. There was an IQ test involved, which was pretty easy, so I'd recommend practicing that online before the interview. Overall, it's a good company and the stress level was average.
- Can you tell me about your semiconductor experiences?
- What are your thoughts on attitude and mindset?
- Could you elaborate on your leadership qualities?
Associate Engineer
First I interviewed with HR, then the hiring manager, then a second manager for about 1.5 hours total. The first two went fine, but the interview with the second manager was all about logic tests, like an IQ test. They kept saying the work is very stressful, sort of threatening me rather than explaining the responsibilities. After 1.5 hours, I still don't know what the job actually entails, besides what was in the job ad.
- Regarding your current job, what's your reason for leaving and why not pursue a similar role in your field?
- Given a lake with a lotus that doubles each night, starting with one on the first night and filling the lake by the 39th night, on which night was the lake half-full of lotuses?
- If worker A takes 3 hours and worker B takes 5 hours to move 20 boxes from point 1 to point 2 individually, how long would it take them to move the 20 boxes together?
Associate Engineer
I applied through the career fair and got an email the very next day to come in for an interview the following day. It was a 2:1 interview, but it felt more like a casual talk than an interview, and the interviewers were very friendly. I was given an offer right after the interview. They asked simple questions related to the job requirements and personal qualities.
- Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
- What is your understanding of product engineering?
- Do you possess the necessary qualities for this role?
