I had a one-on-one phone interview that lasted less than an hour with a consultant. They were emotionally intelligent and informative, and they asked me about my past professional experience. The conversation was open and informative.

You email your resume, then you'll get an email for a follow-up and an initial phone screen in a few days. This is followed by a Telephonic interview, and if you're accepted, you'll be offered to take a 1-week consulting course they call 'A mini-MBA' (on your own time, not paid). Company Directors, Executives, and the Recruiter will first brag about themselves for the number of years they've been there and how much they like it to get you to buy into their talk with the same old marketing tactics to create a well-esteemed environment so the applicant feels it's such a well-versed and organized company taking care of its employees, totally manipulated. A glimpse of what they offer: Compensation: It's 100% commissions only and what they call a W2. For the first 5 'Go Aheads,' you'll be paid $2820 for 200 hours you work, which is equivalent to 5 weeks, so your pay comes to $14 an hour, which is a salary of 28K a year. An intern working in school makes more than this. Okay, they mention after 5 'Go Aheads' with no mention of time, after how many months, etc., you would make the following: $5142.50 for 200 hours worked (with multiple variations in commissionable percentages), which would make it too $25.71 per hour, which would be the salary of a support tech making in the industry, and they are hiring Senior Business Consultants for this position with 75-90% travel time required. Another important aspect: Travel Expense Reimbursement: $525 paid per week, in which you have to manage your Hotel, Food, Car Rental, Incidentals, and/or any other travel-related charges. They pay 30 cents a mile for traveling in your own car, which is 22 cents below IRS Mileage rate. Benefits: Health insurance is offered where the employee pays 75% and the employer pays 25%. They list Dental & Vision, but there is no mention of who is going to pay for that. They mention 401K, but there is nothing listed on how much they are going to contribute; I assume nothing, it's the employee if they want to contribute. Looks like they are trying to get everything out of their employees to make the company benefit the most.

I met with 3 different people, all of whom seemed very nice and professional. Some of the interviews were casual chats, while one was more of a traditional interview with specific questions to assess my experience and skills. Afterward, I was given an application with a comprehensive questionnaire to evaluate my industry and technical experience and knowledge.

The interview started with a phone call from a Business Analyst/Recruiter. They seemed knowledgeable about the position and mentioned that Business Analysts have a high success rate (70-80%) in getting owners to sign up. The role involves demonstrating the value of consultants and working with diverse businesses and their unique problems, which appealed to me given my experience with small businesses. However, after doing some research (looking up "John Burgess Global Resources") at my family's suggestion, I discovered numerous lawsuits against the company. I learned that Global Resources requires employees to pay for travel expenses upfront, with reimbursement later. More concerning, Business Analysts are expected to use high-pressure sales tactics. While I was initially interested in contributing to solutions and learning, I quickly realized this role could become a financial burden, so I withdrew. Fortunately, my losses were only a few hundred dollars, unlike others who reportedly lost thousands. Be wary of this company's claims!
