Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Global Payments.
Software Engineer Intern
I applied directly and a recruiter called me. The interview was one 30-minute round with a Senior Engineer, covering Java basics and some Spring Boot questions. They also asked about a project I'm proud of.
- Could you tell me about common questions related to the Java Collections framework?
- What are the basics of Spring Boot?
- Can you describe a project that you are proud of?
Software Developer
The interview process for this software developer role in Australia began with a 15-minute recruiter phone screen, followed by another 30-minute Teams call with the recruitment team. Next was a technical interview with two developers, one with ten years of experience. This technical round felt opinionated, with a strong emphasis on their specific views on how REST APIs should be implemented. The more experienced developer expressed a dislike for front-end development, citing the constant emergence of new frameworks, which I found to be a potential skill gap as staying updated is crucial in IT. They also showed a preference for C# over my preferred Java-based language. The interview seemed to prioritize aligning with their existing opinions rather than considering my potential to learn new things. Although they mentioned sending a code challenge afterward, it never arrived, and I was subsequently ghosted. This lack of follow-through and communication after investing time in the interview process is disappointing; at a minimum, candidates should be informed of the outcome, even without detailed feedback.
- What measures can be taken to prevent changes to an API contract that would affect its consumers?
Software Engineer
The interview process was simple. It was in Noida. First, there was a 45-minute technical interview covering basic oops concepts, asp.net, c#, services, and javascript. The second round was a managerial round with normal management-related queries. The HR part was bad; they negotiated like I was selling groceries and had uncomfortable talks. I accepted their offer, and the HR said they'd call in a week. After that, there was no communication. I contacted an HR contact, and they said they'd call in a week because there was only one opening and they had chosen two candidates. It's been over a month with no updates via email or phone. Very unprofessional behavior, not acceptable.
- Questions about asp.net, c#, oops, javascript, and sql were asked.
- Some management-related questions were also asked.
