The interview was a disorganized Zoom call with ambiguous, high-level technical questions. They told me after a brief intro that I needed an IDE installed for a screen-shared coding problem. The free Zoom account cut the call short after 40 minutes. The interviewer seemed disinterested from the start, and the position has been open for months. They asked about DevOps experience, which wasn't in the job description, and other skills not listed. The interview felt like a waste of time.

HR first reached out for a 30-minute phone call. The next week, I had a 1-hour meeting with the hiring manager. A week after that, I went in for a 2-hour onsite interview. This involved a panel with the lead engineer, hiring manager, and the director of the engineering group. The very next day, I had another 1-hour interview with a different group in the same engineering organization. Both groups were great, asking about my resume projects, plus around two dozen Java and DB tech questions, and some situational ones. The process was well-organized and everyone was friendly and professional. They extended an offer two days after the onsite interviews.

The interview process was drawn out and a waste of time. I started in early March with a phone screen and a 2-hour technical interview. Hiring was paused, but in August I was invited to reapply. This involved repeating the 2-hour technical interview, plus a 1-hour hiring manager interview and a 1-hour panel session focused on culture fit. I asked to speak with engineers at my level, but instead, I was interviewed with more technical and behavioral questions, expecting a casual 30-minute chat. Six weeks after the second round, there's been little feedback. After over 8 hours of interviews during work hours, I expected more courtesy. It was a bad process, and I'm upset about the time and emotional energy invested.
