First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Gilbane Building Company.
Project Manager
The interview process is quite lengthy, with more rounds than seem necessary. It feels like a box-checking formality because no one practices active listening, leading to a constant 'check back in with us' message, which makes you feel like a desperate mistress. On top of this, you might interview for one role only to be offered a position three levels below and adjacent to your professional experience.
- Can you tell us about your professional experience?
Project Engineer
The first interview was a quick phone screen where they asked about my experience. The second interview was more in-depth. They asked about my history and went into detail about my previous positions. They also asked what I know about the company and the day-to-day activities of the role. They really value their team and culture.
- What prompts your job search?
- Why are you seeking a new opportunity?
Intern
The interview process at Home Depot was straightforward and well-organized, focusing on getting to know me personally, understanding my technical skills, and reviewing my work experience. Overall, the process felt streamlined, consisting of a phone interview followed by an in-person interview, making it efficient and easy to follow.
- Can you tell me about your experience?
- How do you handle conflict, especially when you are on site?
Sales & Marketing
The initial HR screening was really quick. I answered a couple of questions and said something like how I'm keen to work for a family-owned business, and I think that's what got me to the next stage. The interview after that was also pretty short, and I felt like I said what they were looking for, and then I got the job offer. It was generally straightforward and not very deep.
- Were you aware of our core values and which one do you best connect with?
