First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Giesecke+Devrient.
Software Engineer
Found this role on Naukri and applied there directly. My profile got shortlisted and I received an interview invitation. It was a long interview, lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes. The interviewer covered topics like Java, Spring Boot, Databases, and also asked some Design questions.
- Could you answer some advanced Java questions?
- What about some low level design questions?
- Do you have any database questions for me?
Software Developer
The recruiters and department heads who conduct interviews lack education and empathy. They should receive training in education, empathy, and humanization, and be taught to treat others as they would like to be treated. You invest your time in interviews and technical tests, and then they go silent as if the earth swallowed them or the cat ate their tongue, and months pass without any response. How shameless and unprofessional they are. It's clear they don't work out of passion but out of obligation.
- Tell me about your technical skills.
- How would you rate your spoken English proficiency?
- When are you available to start?
Software Engineer
This interview process is deeply flawed. I answered most of the questions correctly. Candidates are evaluated against a rigid system that only rewards answers matching predefined options, even for open-ended design questions where multiple valid approaches exist. Well-reasoned, constraint-driven answers are penalized if they don’t align with the tool’s expected wording or structure. This reduces complex problem-solving to keyword matching and completely misses how real engineering and design decisions are made. The final score did not reflect actual ability or reasoning. If this company is serious about hiring strong talent, this interview format needs a major rethink.
- abstract design question for a highly concurrent and a highly throughput system
