Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Giant Eagle.
Pharmacy Technician
It was a good interview process overall. They asked standard questions about strengths, weaknesses, and teamwork. The interviewer was nice and easy to talk to. I got hired and have been working as an intern for over two years now.
- Can you describe your strengths?
- What do you consider your weaknesses?
- How do you handle working with others?
Pharmacy Technician
So I had a phone interview first, just some general questions. Then I had a one-on-one with the pharmacy manager and they asked some of the same questions again. Honestly, these interviews felt like a waste of my time. I was expecting them to be pharmacy based but they were super generalized. The questions were easy to answer since they are the typical retail/service industry questions. I wasn't offered the job because my availability during the school year wasn't open enough. The recruiter from the initial phone interview told me there was a 12 hour a month minimum (which I could definitely manage) but then the pharmacy manager told me he was looking for someone to work 4 days a week year round (which is next-to-impossible during the school year for me).
- Can you tell me about a time you went above and beyond what was expected?
- Recount an instance where you had to share unfavorable news.
- Tell me about a situation where you devised an innovative solution.
Pharmacy Technician
The interview process kicked off with a recruiter phone call. Next, I had a physical interview. It was honestly one of the best interviews I've experienced; the manager was great and it felt more like a casual chat than a formal interview. As part of applying for the Pharmacy position, there's a short test to assess your knowledge of sig codes.
- Can you tell me about your strengths?
- What about your weaknesses?
- Are you knowledgeable about sig codes?
