I was hired through an acquisition, so I can't speak to GfK's usual hiring process. However, I've noticed that some teams are much more selective than others, sometimes taking months and months to hire just one person.

I went through several rounds of interviews with the team. Everyone was really nice and seemed eager for me to join. The interviews were a mix of in-person, phone calls, and video conferences because the team was spread across different locations. They had a list of questions they used for everyone.

They sent me an Excel task 2 days before the interview, using point of sale data for telcos, and I had to submit it the day before. When I got to Woking for the interview, my interviewer met me and we went to a small room. She gave me a paper SHL test. Apparently, there was supposed to be a verbal test too, but HR messed up. I didn't get the 25/35 score needed, so after I finished, some team members told me I failed and that there would be NO interview. They chatted with me informally for a bit. It's weird why they make you travel and do tasks before even knowing if you pass the first test that apparently screens you out. Maybe they should change the order to be better for everyone.
