Technician
Very good, kind, well-conducted, no psychological pressure, you feel comfortable, not nervous, very easy to do, but discerning. Adds to the worker's life, with good benefits and work schedule. With professional and personal growth.
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Maintenance Technician
So, after they called me in for the interview, the very first thing they made me do was head over to HR and take a written test. This test had like 150 questions in total, with 75% being maintenance-related and the other 25% being math. The math questions were pretty simple, I'd say about a ninth-grade level. The maintenance part was really comprehensive, covering electrical, hydraulic, welding, and mechanical topics. They weren't super easy, but you only needed a 50% to pass, so it wasn't too hard to get to the next stage, which was the face-to-face interview. This interview was a panel-style thing. I was sitting at this big table with three of the supervisors. It looked like they asked most of their questions based on what I had on my resume, so if you've listed a skill or have experience with a particular piece of equipment, be ready to answer technical questions about it.
- Could you walk me through this motor controller schematic and explain its operation?
- Please identify the different symbols shown on this motor controller schematic.
- Can you answer a few fundamental troubleshooting questions for me?
Process Technician
I found the job posting on a state labor website. The first meeting was a tour of the plant, specifically the melt shop and rolling mill. After the tour, they asked me a few basic questions. The second meeting involved a challenging multi-skill test that took about 3 hours and included a behavioral assessment. Apparently, not many people pass this test. I also had an interview with a maintenance supervisor where they asked basic questions about my experience with different types of equipment. This test is known to be very difficult.
- What is your experience with equipment?
- Can you tell me about your experience with equipment?
- Describe your experience with machinery.
