Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Gerdau.
Engineer
The process started with university recruiting, then a phone screen, followed by an online interview where I had to answer questions while being recorded. The final step was an on-site visit. The on-site went well, they didn't focus much on behavioral questions but it was a good chance to meet people and for them to get a feel for me. The whole process felt long and reimbursement wasn't timely. There was a system issue that took prompting to resolve. Based on initial impressions, it seemed like a place with a lot of talk about safety but not much focus on it, and a confrontational atmosphere rather than teamwork-based. I got the impression raised voices weren't uncommon.
- Interview questions were reasonable.
Engineer
I applied online and the whole thing took about two days. First, I had a phone interview where they asked standard questions about my past experience and projects. They told me they'd call in two weeks if I moved forward.
- Can you tell me about a challenging situation you faced and how you dealt with it?
Engineer
We had a group interview with the usual questions. There was a good guy and a not so good guy. It was in the meeting room and took about half an hour. Overall, it was a good experience.
- Could you tell us about your previous job experience?
