Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at GEP.
Manager
The hiring process was extremely slow, dragging on for months. The company culture seems to lack proactivity, with tasks remaining incomplete without constant follow-up. It took them four months to schedule just two interview rounds, which highlights their pace. During the interviews, panelists expressed concerns about AI's impact on their 'bread and butter' and the need to adjust strategies. One panelist delved deeply into AI specifics and my current company's business, which felt unprofessional. It was interesting to encounter individuals who have been with the company for a long time, possibly lacking current skills, and who struggled to conduct an effective interview. Despite positive feedback after the successful completion of rounds, they delayed further feedback, ultimately stating the position was closed, which was a significant waste of time.
- Could you provide details about AI and your concerns about it?
- What are the business insights of your current company that you can share?
- How is your company adapting its strategy in light of AI developments?
Senior Manager
There were multiple interview rounds. First, HR did a screening and checked for cultural fit. Then, colleagues at the working level looked at technical background. Lastly, management teams did a deep dive into experiences and how the candidate fits the role. Soft skills and competency skills were covered in each interview.
- Can you walk me through your past experiences that are relevant to this job and check your competency?
- Describe your competencies related to this role.
Delivery Manager
The initial interview was with someone who wasn't on the recruiter's invite list, which was odd. This interviewer was rude from the start, making me feel uncomfortable and impacting my performance. They didn't review my resume beforehand and seemed to steer the conversation towards an Engineering Manager role, even though I applied for Delivery Manager. The questions about the Job Description (JD) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) were tough, especially given my limited recent experience in SCM. The interviewer's feedback about providing too much detail after I was already flustered by their demeanor made the subsequent round difficult. I feel the process was mismanaged and unprofessional, wasting my time and energy, including taking a day off work. This experience, marked by a rude interviewer and a disorganized process, was frustrating and made me question the company's leadership.
- Do you know the JD?
- Do you have supply chain management experience?
- What is SCM?
