First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Georgia-Pacific.
Software Engineer Intern
I first chatted with the hiring manager at the school career fair, and then I got a phone interview invitation later. The interview only had a single round. There were no coding questions.
- Can you explain the experience and projects listed on your resume?
Software Engineer
I met them at a career fair and gave them my resume, then they asked about my projects. They invited me for an interview the next day on campus. It was mostly behavioral, but they did dig into my project details when I talked about them. Be ready to talk about your projects a lot. They really want to see if you're a cultural fit, so I suggest looking up Market Based Management and learning about it. They'll be impressed. They ask a lot of questions quickly, so be prepared to talk for most of the half-hour interview. I was then invited for an on-site interview a few weeks later. After interviewing with 4 other people, I got the offer in person.
- Describe a situation where you faced major conflict on a project and how you resolved it.
Software Engineer
It was a pretty standard interview. The interviewers were nice enough, but they had very serious faces and didn't show much emotion during the conversation. They asked a lot of questions about how I'd handle different situations to get a sense of my personality. It wasn't a bad atmosphere, but it wasn't super comfortable either.
- Can you describe a time you identified a chance to make things better and what steps you took?
