First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Georgia Department of Human Services.
Case Manager
I got hired through a group job fair. I got an invite to a DHS job fair and had to fill out new hire paperwork. At the fair, recruiters took my paperwork and gave me three tests: behavioral, computer competency, and math. If I passed, I had an onsite interview with HR, then got fingerprinted. They let me know if I got the job within 48 hours.
- Do you know what call center environments are like?
Case Manager
I applied online in January 2014 and heard back in July 2014. It took a while, but hiring varies by region. DFCS first contacted me via email for an interview, which is standard for new MSW grads. After I replied, the first interview was with the County Director and a Program Consultant. About two weeks later, I had a second interview, a panel with 4 DFCS supervisors (2 from Foster Care and 2 from CPS) and the Program Consultant from the first interview. I got the job offer the same day as the second interview.
- Tell me about a time you disagreed with a policy or procedure and what you did about it.
Case Manager
I had an in-person interview with the director, administrators, and supervisors. They went through a list of questions. The director mentioned that the job requires a lot of travel throughout GA. I also had to complete a scenario involving a family and a worksheet about HIPAA law, so I had to make sure I was familiar with confidentiality.
- Tell me about a time someone showed resilience towards you.
