Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Genuine Parts Company.
Software Engineer
So I had an HR call and an online test first. Then I spent 4 hours at their office watching technical presentations from other candidates and my own. After that, a technical interview happened. I waited 3 weeks and 2 days for the results, but got no feedback at all.
- Could you explain one of the SOLID principles?
Software Engineer
The interview process kicked off with a 30-minute phone chat with the hiring manager. They wanted to hear about my past experiences and, towards the end, asked some basic technical questions to get a feel for my programming knowledge. After that, I was sent a coding challenge where I had to choose and complete one of three tasks. The final stage involved two separate hour-long video calls. The first was with the DevOps team, who mainly focused on workflow and cultural fit. The second was the technical interview, where we briefly chatted about my coding challenge, and then they really drilled down on my understanding of programming and logic.
- Could you explain how Spring handles the loading of bean configurations?
Software Engineer
They asked questions to check how I think and how I solve problems + some general questions about java and cloud. Fast process with feedback after each inteview stage. Definitely one of my best interviews.
- Can you explain TDD and your experience with it?
- Tell me about your experience with GCP, including what you've used and liked.
- Which Java versions have you used, and what features do you appreciate?
