Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Gensler.
Graphic Designer
The recruiter reached out via phone and email, but the Paris team rescheduled my interview twice. When I arrived, the main interviewer had to leave after ten minutes for another meeting. Another employee greeted me, but there seemed to be some confusion, as if they already had another candidate in mind, and I felt like they were mixing me up with someone else.

Graphic Designer
I had a Zoom meeting with some designers from the team. We talked about two projects from my portfolio. They asked me some questions about my design style. They seemed to be looking for candidates with an architecture background or experience using AutoCAD.
- How would you describe your design style?
- Do you have experience with architecture?
- Have you used AutoCAD before?
Graphic Designer
My interview was great! It felt like a really natural chat about my resume, my portfolio, and what my goals are as a designer. The interviewer made me feel super comfortable, and we ended up talking for about an hour and a half. We covered the company, the specific job, and my portfolio. While I didn't get the job, it was a really valuable experience, and I'll definitely keep applying.
- What makes you interested in Gensler?
- Can you walk me through your portfolio?
