First there was a recruiter call, then I spoke with the hiring manager, and finally a panel interview. I heard back from HR two weeks after the initial call about meeting with the manager. They mentioned they're looking for someone who has more experience dealing with people.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The whole selection process consisted of 3 calls: 1) call with the recruiter 2) call with the Hiring Manager(Team Lead) 3 call with the team Lead, same level employee, and the Director. At the third call you are supposed to give a 20 min presentation covering self presentation and understanding of services and products and motivation as well as your expected targets for the first 30, 60, 90 days upon commencement of employment. Presentation was followed by Q&A session. Also, expect some tricky and "out-of-the box" questions. On a good note, no personal questions were asked and the interviewers were nice and smiling keeping the overall vibe relaxed. The salary for the role was below Dutch average level of salary (as of 2023) and considering they were looking for someone with a PhD or a MSc in Life Sciences, fluent in at least two languages and commercial experience, this is definitely below the level of pay for similar roles in the Netherlands. Overall process took nearly 7 weeks from the moment of sending the application and I found it to be a bit too "sluggish" as during this process I have had several other ones that were organized much better and paid much better, too. The recruiter give an impression of trying to "close" the candidate at the lowest possible rate and was not up-to-date regarding the "30% ruling", which they tried to use to "sell" the role, where the actual maximum budget for the role was below the threshold required to be eligible for the "30% ruling".
