So first there was an initial interview on campus, and then there was a longer on campus interview for about three hours with multiple interviewers. One group was with two engineers, and the other was with more of the human resources staff. The interviewers were really nice! The questions came fast, but it was fine to take your time to think. The second interview also had a personality/competency test that took about an hour. It was on scantron and had simple brain-teaser type questions, not too hard.

I first connected with them at my school's career fair, then applied online and got a call that same night for an interview the very next morning. The first interview was with one person who dove right into about 4-5 behavioral questions, then asked if I had any questions. It was about 30 minutes long. That evening, I got a call saying I was moving on to the next round, and I had to take an assessment the next morning before my final interview. The final interview had two interviewers, and it was about 6-7 behavioral questions with follow-ups for each answer, and then they asked if I had questions. It lasted around 50 minutes. I got the offer the day after that. They have a list of plant locations that take interns, and it's first come, first serve once they start offering positions. The whole thing took 3 days.

- Be ready with several specific examples of your experiences for the typical behavioral questions. They don't make it a tough interview, but you need to be prepared to go into detail.
- They get straight to behavioral questions without delay. When they ask if you have questions, use it as an opportunity to talk about why you're enthusiastic about General Mills' work and why you want to join them. The culture at General Mills really values pride in the company and its brands, so showing passion for the company and your work is super important.

It started with a two-hour online personality and reasoning test, which I really disliked. It felt like a pointless exercise by HR to filter people out. You probably need to be their buddy or good at psyching out what they want. Then came the onsite interview, which just used old-school behavioral questions that made me uncomfortable. They think they're being clever, but I think it just drives away good talent. Their goal seems to be excluding people and favoring those who are good at rote interview questions and can make up stories. Apparently, getting good scores is based on telling fabricated stories about outstanding results, not on actual abilities. Some interviewers acted like they were too good for us. Weirdly, they scheduled multiple people for interviews at the same time, with other candidates waiting around. It felt like they might have already chosen internal candidates but were making outsiders go through the motions just to check a box.
