Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at General Dynamics Information Technology.
Electronics Technician
The interview itself wasn't too bad. The aftermath with the job offer was down right atrocious and even insulting. Everything from being low-balled on the job offer to being gaslit and insulted about the position and offer.
- Can you discuss your technical background?
- Could you elaborate on your experience with communications systems?
Systems Technician
A recruiter reached out, checking my availability, interest, clearance, and skills. Then, the hiring manager called for a phone interview where they asked some basic tech questions and told me about the company and role. After that, I had an in-person interview the next week. We talked more about the job, I asked my questions, and they threw in a few more technical questions to check my skills. The manager then presented three job options and recommended them. I picked the one I liked best, and that was the interview. I got a full offer from GDIT about a week later.
- How would you configure a WAN connection on a Cisco router?
Systems Technician
I met with some senior PMs and we talked about my background, resume, and what I wanted to do moving forward. They also told me more about the contract I'd be supporting. I found out this job, which was my first DOD job application, needed a Security+ cert, which I didn't have yet, but otherwise I was good. It's an IT job like I'm used to, but they said it's also an 'other duties as assigned' role so you can learn the business/management side of things.
- What are your 5-year career goals?
- Are you currently certified in Security+?
