Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Generac Power Systems.
Engineer
I had an initial phone screen with the engineering manager for the pressure washer division, mostly discussing project management and ownership. My onsite visit was rushed due to time constraints; my request for a later flight went unanswered. The onsite interviews shifted focus from our initial discussion to a different role entirely, and we ran out of time before I had to leave for the airport, as all interviews were one-on-one. It was good to see a company manufacturing products in the USA.
- Regarding this component, what measures would you take to improve its cost-effectiveness?
- How would you address or conceal a flaw on this particular part?
Engineer
I wanted to share my experience interviewing with the company, specifically the phone screening with a recruiter. I was contacted by a recruiter via a career website and agreed to a call. The conversation went smoothly until salary discussions began. When I stated my salary expectations, the recruiter reacted with disbelief and scoffing, suggesting my expectations were too high and that I should reconsider. As a result, I did not get a follow-up call for an onsite interview. Interestingly, I received an offer from another company the following week that was higher than my stated expectations. I also noted that as an engineer, I wouldn't be required to wear a tie daily. It seems the company might need to increase compensation to attract top talent and potentially their current employees as well, based on other reviews.
- What motivates you to want to work at Generac?
Engineer
Standard interview process, HR phone screen then an on-site interview. It was a good experience and I liked everyone I talked to. I would have taken the job but I got a better offer somewhere else. I still think I would have been happy at Generac.
- Can you tell me about your general resume experience?
- Can we have a conversation about your projects?
