First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Genea.
Software Engineer
AVOID!!! First round was a technical interview, really tough if your basics aren't solid. They asked some easy/medium LeetCode problems focused on arrays/strings. Second round was another technical interview. The interviewer didn't even introduce themselves and was extremely rude. They asked for practical implementation, like demonstrating the singleton pattern live in VS. Also asked practical questions on joins and writing SQL queries. Even after getting all but one or two answers correct, I was ghosted with no rejection email or any communication. Both interviewers seemed frustrated and lacked enthusiasm. The culture seems like a major red flag.
- What is the singleton pattern? Implement it in VS.
- Practical question on joins and writing SQL queries.
Software Engineer
The interview was quite messy. First, there were two tech rounds with coding and SQL questions. Then, I had to build a user management system. After that, another tech round with more coding and SQL. They kept talking about their great culture. Lastly, an HR round for salary discussion, which was eye-opening. The HR people were arrogant, spending most of the time praising the company, and the offer was very low, not matching my expectations despite my good performance. They also claimed offers aren't based on past salary, but capped the fixed salary increase at 10% and added bonuses.
- Write SQL queries involving joins and rank functions.
- Solve coding problems involving strings or arrays.
- Build a user management system from scratch.
Senior Software Engineer
It was a friendly process, although they started the interview process much after I had applied. They take a long time from getting a resume to responding. Afterwards, there are usually two rounds - one technical and one company values related.
- The leadership wants to know how you will do anything that is required
