Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Geisinger.
Administrative Assistant
I met with the 3 principals who would be my managers. They asked me about my qualifications, experience, strengths, and weaknesses. They also described the role and I got to ask them questions.
- What do you need in your work space to be successful/productive?
Administrative Assistant
It was pretty fast. They used to do in-person interviews, but now it's often a quick video chat early on where they do most of the talking about themselves. I was totally caught off guard while I was in the bathroom during lunch with my husband. They didn't seem to care that they kept me there for a while, even though they didn't seem to have any real interest in me and didn't apologize.
- It felt like they focused on my weaknesses.
- They seemed to zero in on my flaws and build the conversation around them.
Executive Assistant
I had interviews with 3 people, each for 30 minutes, and then a 1-hour meeting with the VP. Two of the interviewers were assistants in the same department. It made me wonder why they weren't seeking promotions, given their long tenure in the department.
- Can you tell me about your five-year career plan?
- What would you say are your greatest strengths?
- What are your most significant weaknesses?
