Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Geek Squad.
Agent
The only issue I had was that the interview took place in a home theater display environment, which meant no walls or privacy. I myself accidentally walked into an active interview.
- How do you stay current with technological advancements?
- What do you enjoy most about teamwork?
Agent
The whole interview process was a 3-step thing. It all happened pretty fast, and was actually pretty enjoyable. It started with a simple phone call, which I didn't even realize was the first interview until I got to the second stage and they told me I did well. Haha. Then came a one-on-one with the manager where they asked me about my skills and past work experience. The final interview was with the General Manager and another manager, and they mainly wanted to see if I'd fit in with the company culture, which is a big deal at Geek Squad. The whole thing took about two weeks, and they made me an offer a few days later, if I recall correctly.
- Why are you the best fit for this job?
- What motivated you to apply for this specific role?
- How would you handle a situation like xyz?
Agent
So first we had this Telephone Interview, then a Practical and Written Test, and finally an interview with the Branch Manager in store! The practical test was tough but honestly it could've been harder. The key thing to remember is that people tend to overcomplicate IT issues, which is why they fail. Always look for the simple solutions first before diving into the complex ones! The group stage and the whole interview vibe is really about personality, so just be yourself, be friendly, try to stand out, and honestly, just have fun with it!
- Tell me about a practical test you took that was based on a Windows Vista network issue.
- What do you think is the main reason people fail practical IT tests?
- What advice would you give someone preparing for a practical IT test regarding problem-solving approach?
