Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at GE Vernova.
Project Engineer
First, I was contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn. Then, I had a team interview with my potential direct manager and a senior people leader, where they wanted to understand who I am. After that, there was an f2f interview with the same direct manager and senior people leader, which involved more technical and scenario-based questions.
- How do you handle situations where a team member is falling behind on their tasks or deadlines?
- Can you describe your greatest strength and your biggest weakness?
- What are your hobbies or how do you spend your free time?
Performance Engineer
This was a behavioral interview, asking me about myself and my background. They wanted to know if I was willing to relocate, why I applied, about any work experience I had, my GPA, and how my experiences related to the role. They also asked about my career goals for the next 5 years.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Are you open to relocating for this position?
- What motivated you to apply?
Engineer
So I was at this company, the one near Tempelhof, for what felt like my second interview. But right off the bat, the interviewers were late, and they had an extra person show up who wasn't on the schedule. The whole atmosphere was super intense and honestly, not respectful at all. The main guy asking questions wasn't really listening to my answers; he'd just jump in with something else before I could even start or finish. It was confusing, like, 'Are you even waiting for my response?' I also noticed some weird tension between the main interviewer and HR. They were chatting about upcoming meetings, room keys, and other stuff that had nothing to do with the interview. HR even left before it was over, and the other interviewer seemed clueless about basic things like locking the door or turning off the lights. And this was someone who apparently has worked there for ages? It was completely unprofessional and disrespectful. A really, really bad experience!
- The HR person mentioned they had to leave and asked if I had discussed salary with someone named xx, and what my salary expectations were, before saying I'd get an answer next week.
