I sent in my application online and didn't hear back for about two months. Then, I had a quick chat with HR which was pretty standard. After that, I did a technical interview over the phone/computer with the lab manager. They had mentioned beforehand that this lab was super selective and had a really tough technical screen, and it definitely lived up to that reputation.

It started with me giving a presentation on my research. After that, the team asked a bunch of questions, really curious and genuine ones, with some good suggestions too. Then there was a group interview, followed by a chat with the team manager who asked about my plans, why I'm interested, and my 5-year outlook. I also had a tougher interview with an adjacent lab manager. The next step was with the Technology leader, who focused more on the big picture rather than deep technical details. The very last round was with the HR manager.
