I applied online for a Quality engineering role. Then I had a recruiter chat about salary expectations, benefits, and why I'm looking for a new job. After that, I had a Teams call with the hiring manager and a panel of future colleagues, which was the final interview and lasted about an hour.

I had a 30-minute phone chat with a GE Aviation recruiter to start. Then, about a week later, I got an invitation for an onsite interview, set for 5pm to 8pm, with less than a day's notice. The kicker? I was over 600 miles away. I asked for a different time, and also about travel costs, but got no answers or help, just told the interview group didn't have other dates. They also didn't answer about travel, meaning I'd have to pay out of pocket. Some friends thought the job might be a scam because of this. About another week went by, and then I got that standard email saying, "Thanks for your interest."

I got referred by a previous intern who worked there. The hiring director contacted me directly. We went through my resume, talked about projects I did in school, teamwork, and the internship itself. They offered me the job the day after.
