I was initially contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn who thought I'd be a great fit for a contractor role and got me really excited. After that, my information was passed on, and I had an interview with an account executive and a delivery manager. The interview was cut short to under 15 minutes because they felt I didn't have enough experience, which is weird because they just read my resume? I didn't even get a chance to discuss my experience or qualifications; they made a judgment based on a very brief, 30-second elevator pitch without any further questions. It felt like a complete waste of time and was quite discouraging.

So I had a bad experience with GDH Consulting. Everyone was nice and gave me good feedback, but the company seemed really disorganized. They rescheduled my first interview twice. Then I did two 30-minute interviews. A few weeks later, I had a 2-hour video interview, which wasn't as bad as it sounds. I had to rearrange my schedule, but I was really interested in the job. Then they called and said I could come in for a tour and to talk more about the position, and that the offer was on the table if I wanted it. I had actually taken a low-paying full-time job recently because I have bills, but I didn't tell them. It was inconvenient to miss my second day of work and request a half-day, but I did it because I thought I had the job and didn't want to miss a better opportunity. I then went through a job shadowing phase, which was basically an overview, meeting the team, shadowing someone, and another interview I didn't know about. Even after shadowing, I got good feedback and was told they'd call about next steps. I left feeling a bit defeated because I felt I was given bad info and misled about getting the job. The next week, they called saying the position "expired" and they'd call about other openings. I was done at that point and not interested anymore. I know how recruiting works and positions usually have set times. I thanked the recruiter and haven't heard back. Oh, and I lost my full-time job by taking a half-day for this shadowing. All in all, a loss for me. For the pay they offered, I don't think there should be more than two interviews.

I was fully briefed on the company and the project I'd be working on. The interviewer was super nice. They asked questions related to the job duties and then asked if I had any questions. I answered everything they asked, and then I asked them what they liked about working there. They mentioned they liked the benefits, the working hours, and the opportunities for growth.

It was a pretty chill interview with GDH. They told me about the contract gig and wanted to make sure it was a good fit for me and where I'm at in life. The specific contract I was looking at required talking to a GDH recruiter to check my qualifications, and then talking to the company I'd actually be working for to make sure I was qualified and would fit their vibe.
