First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Gate Gourmet.
Management
You'll have two to three phone interviews where they ask pretty much the same things. Basic stuff, like why you're looking for a new job and why you think you'd do well. After that, they'll invite you for an in-person interview. This is your chance to see how things actually run day-to-day... which, looking back, was probably a sign of what was to come.
- What are some of your weaknesses?
Management Trainee
The interview process started with a one-on-one with the HR manager, focusing on getting to know me and my past experiences. This was followed by a phone call later that week inviting me to a second round. The second round involved a presentation to the managers about airline catering information. I had to prepare this presentation within an hour and then immediately participated in an interview after it concluded. On the same day, I received a call for a third-round interview, which was a 5-day experiential learning program. This was a great opportunity to learn about the operations and see if I'd like the work environment. After the program, I had to write and submit a reflection report via email.
- Considering your studies are unrelated, why are you interested in a job in airline catering?
- What would you do if you saw front line staff arguing?
Management
Recruiters were very professional. I went through a drug test and background check, which took some time but wasn't too difficult.
