I applied online via a third-party agency. A recruiter did a screening call, then I had an in-person interview at Schiphol Airport with the direct manager, which went pretty well. After that, I had a second in-person interview with a potential peer. I really liked the role and wanted to work there. The whole process took over a month, which I figured was because they were busy. I got a job offer in the end, but what happened next was terrible. I was also interviewing elsewhere and got another offer. I called Gate Gourmet multiple times to confirm our agreement before turning down the other offer. I accepted a pre-offer with my recruiter and then got an email from Gate Gourmet HR saying I was selected. They told me to wait a week for details since everyone was on holiday in July, which was fine. But then they made me wait four weeks and stopped responding. My recruiter also went on vacation, so for four weeks, there was no progress. I eventually found out in September that the manager had a medical emergency and was on sick leave, and they couldn't find anyone to take over his duties or sign my contract. They wasted four months of my time, made me lose two other job offers, and probably cost me other potential interviews. It's a disgrace and a huge red flag. I haven't heard a single word of explanation from anyone. I don't recommend the Amsterdam location.

Behavioral Technical

I went through an employment agency first. They asked me direct questions about my experience in the field, personal details, and availability. After that, they set up an interview with the hiring manager for the area, which was conducted via Teams. The manager asked about my experience and posed a direct question related to a technical aspect of the job.

This company has ridiculous expectations and reached out weeks after I applied, which was already after my job search ended. I agreed to interview anyway, but then got ghosted for another week. When I followed up, they said they weren't sure if they still wanted to fill the position and told me to wait another week. During the interview, they claimed I lacked sufficient experience and were looking for someone who wouldn't need training, despite offering an entry-level salary of only $50k max. They then suggested I apply for other roles, but surprise, relocation would be entirely at my own expense. I hope their candidate search goes poorly.
