First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Gas Transmission System.
Associate Engineer
I had a phone interview with the recruiter first, and then I got an email for a second round which I scheduled. However, after a week, the recruiter told me I was rejected and the second interview email was a system error. While I understand companies want to find great candidates efficiently, it's important to show respect to all applicants. I feel upset not because I was rejected, but because I spent a whole week preparing, reaching out to people to learn about the company, and they didn't respect my time. If a company doesn't respect applicants' time, how can they respect clients? Hope they fix the system error quickly and stop 'cheating' people.
- What are your reasons for wanting to join GTS?
- Could you describe your ideal manager?
Associate Engineer
I had an initial phone screening with HR and was asked questions all from other peoples' interviews listed ( so I would expect them when preparing). Then a week later I had a virtual interview with 2 employees with a series of 25 questions. Some were repetitive from the HR screening, some were common questions, and some were difficult and thought-provoking. I was a little disappointed at a few random/uncommon questions they knew no one would be expecting, instead of just having a conversation. But everyone I talked to was cool and casual. They seem to really care about what kind of person they hire that would fit in with their morals. It seems like everyone loves working there for the people.
- What makes you want to work for GTS?
- What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
- How would you define excellent communication?
Drafter
I went through a pretty long process. First, I met with the Manager and HR person for about 20 minutes, then the HR person left. After that, the Manager and the 2 drafting supervisors interviewed me. Finally, the 2 lead drafters joined as well, making the total interview time about 2-2.5 hours. The HR person asked standard HR questions that were of medium difficulty for someone experienced. The questions from the Manager and Supervisors were more focused on the actual work. I actually enjoyed the extended process because I was treated well and got to know the people involved, which felt like a good start to potentially working together. Although I didn't get hired, I liked the people and felt I would have enjoyed working there. I was one of the first people interviewed and I think I was seriously considered. However, I wasn't invited back for a second interview, and no feedback was given until three weeks later when I was informed that someone else had been hired.
- Can you share an instance where you couldn't finish a task as required and describe the result?
Quality Control Analyst
First, there was a recruiter phone call to go over my background and see if I was a good fit. It was about 30-40 minutes. A week later, I heard back, and they invited me for an on-site interview. The on-site was pretty standard, no super tough questions. Two people from the department, not HR, interviewed me. It was a pretty chill conversation with the usual questions, and I got to ask them stuff too. After that, there was a task where I had to manipulate an Excel spreadsheet, but they said it wouldn't count towards the hiring decision.
- Can you explain how one of the company's values connects with your personal background and strengths?
