First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Garner Health Technology.
Software Engineer
I applied for this Senior Software Engineer role, which Garner has been posting weekly for two months. They get at least 500 applicants on the first day of each posting, meaning they've sourced over 5,000 applicants for this single role. They've sourced more people for this job than have ever worked at the company, yet still haven't found anyone. My interview process involved a recruiter screen, a culture/tech screen, and a work experience interview, after which I was rejected. It seems like they use this practice to get the Work Opportunity Tax Credit, which is a shady business tactic. I don't recommend wasting your time here.
- Can you describe a project you led or co-led that recently encountered issues?
Software Engineer
The interview process was pretty standard. I went through 4 interviews in total. The first was a phone screening to chat about my background. Then, I had an interview with the hiring manager, also focused on my background. The last two interviews happened on the same day. The first of these was a technical interview that wasn't LeetCode style, involving a simple live coding exercise related to healthcare. The final interview was a deeper dive into projects I've worked on, along with more technical questions.
- In TypeScript, what is the difference in return values between Array.find() and Array.filter()?
Software Engineer
The interview process was quite forgettable, and I'm still unsure about the company's exact business. The take-home coding challenge felt exploitative because its requirements didn't align with the test results, and there was no way to get clarification. It's strange that the coding challenge seemed like actual work rather than a genuine assessment of skills, as it felt like I was contributing to solving someone else's problem over two days without any context of the company's codebase or style. This large coding challenge was also very early in the process, occurring after a conversation with an engineer who didn't seem senior. This was followed by an automated rejection email. It appears the company aims to share minimal information about both candidates and themselves, potentially looking for 'code monkeys.' Overall, a negative experience.
- Could you build a healthcare/doctor rating system within a 48-hour timeframe?
