Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Garmin.
Quality Analyst
I interviewed for a Quality Analyst role at Garmin in Cary. The initial recruiter phone screen was straightforward and went well, leading to a second interview with the hiring manager and the lead team. This part felt like a casual get-to-know-you session. An unusual request for college transcripts came via email, and the recruiter clarified they only use them for candidates with less than five years of experience.
- Can you share an instance where you had a conflict with a colleague and describe how you handled it?
Product Quality Engineer
The online interview has a few main parts. First, there's an HR Interview (30 minutes) to check your personality and talk about company perks. They'll ask about your personality and if you fit the team, like 'Tell me about yourself,' 'Have you worked with others before?', and 'What do you do for fun?'. Then, a Technical Interview with the Supervisor (2 hours) to test your technical skills, past jobs, and relevant personal stuff. This includes questions about technical work and teamwork, like 'What's a tough technical issue you fixed?' and 'How do you manage tasks when you have many projects?'
- What are your hobbies and interests?
- Tell me about a challenging technical problem you solved.
- How do you handle prioritizing tasks across multiple projects?
Manual QA Tester
The interview process is long, starts with a phone screen, then additional phone interviews total of 4 interviews over a few weeks the last one in person. The salary was much lower that market value.
- Describe how you would set up your work environment.
