Behavioral Technical

The interview process was not too bad. I originally phone interviewed with a DM from another market. Quite a few of the questions during this interview or behavior based. A lot of those questions had to do with how I have coached and improved underperforming employees in the past. How I set goals and implement plans. How I go about recruiting and retaining talent. And also had to do with some of my greater accomplishments in my management career. After that interview I interviewed with the district manager for the district that I was going to work in. This interview took place in person. During this interview I was asked more questions about my management style, accomplishments in my career, as well as my knowledge in the field specifically which game consoles I am familiar with and what games I play or am familiar with. The interviews went well and I was called back a few days later and offered the position of store manager designate. Which is a 30 day training position for store managers.

The hiring process for Assistant Store Manager was quite lengthy. The District Manager (DM) first contacted me about applying for the ASM role. After I completed the application, we had a brief 20-minute conversation, and they said they'd be in touch within a day about the next step. However, I waited nearly five weeks before any further contact. Once I did hear back, we scheduled the second interview. Following that, the DM called about an hour later to set up another in-person meeting with both myself and the Regional Manager (RM), promising to follow up in two days. It took two months to hear back again, at which point I received the job offer. The onboarding paperwork itself then took an additional month.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

It's best to apply through someone you know, like another store manager. The first interview was with the District Manager, and they wanted to see if I understood the company's business model, my management experience, and my sales skills. Then, I had a second interview with another District manager, and they mostly focused on product knowledge and how well I understood stakeholders and different customer groups. The last interview was a phone call with the Regional Director. They asked about the same things as before, plus questions about my grasp of the business plan and how I'd aim to hit several tough, long-term goals. The whole process lasted about 2-3 weeks after I gave my resume and application to the first interviewer.
