Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at GameStop.
Sales Associate
The interview was pretty chill, happened while the store was open. It was a bit weird but luckily only one shopper came in. I interviewed in person with the store manager and they offered me the job right then and there.
- What makes you want to join us?
Sales Associate
The interview was casual and friendly, starting with a semi-scripted, scenario-based situational hypothetical with a correct answer in mind. It first involved the assistant manager, then the store manager, and finally a phone interview with the regional manager.
- Could you sell me this pen, sir?
Sales Associate
The interview process is pretty chill. They'll ask about your experience, the games you enjoy, and the consoles you've had. They also had me do a simulated customer interaction, covering certain points they specified, without any prior notice. If you're good at explaining things and can follow instructions, it's not too tough.
- What are your favorite games?
- Do you have previous retail experience?
- How do you handle constructive feedback?
