Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Gallup.
Software Developer
After applying online, which took about two weeks, I was asked to complete an online behavior assessment. A week later, a phone interview was scheduled. This phone interview was quite unusual; they repeatedly asked questions similar to those in the prior assessment, such as 'Are you an accountable person?' or 'Are you known for your responsibility?' After I confirmed, they would then request examples, and more examples for most questions. If you're interviewing at Gallup, ensure you have plenty of examples ready.
- Tell me about a time you demonstrated accountability.
- Describe situations where your responsibility was evident.
- Can you provide examples of your accountability?
Software Engineer Intern
Applied online after finishing a 40-minute online assessment which had behavioral questions. Then received an email to schedule a telephone interview. The telephone interview was about an hour long and included similar behavioral questions, but required specific examples of when you showed those qualities. They really test your endurance with these types of behavioral questions.
- Are you known for your common sense approach, and can you provide an example?
- Can you illustrate instances where you've demonstrated credibility?
- On a scale of 1 to 5, how would you rate your honesty?
Software Engineer
Had an HR interview where I had to talk about all my previous jobs and why I left them, even going back 15 years. Then there was a technical interview, and a security check. The tech part had two live coding challenges, one in SQL and one in Java. They weren't too hard.
- Could you discuss Java 8, including Lambdas and StreamAPI?
- Do you have experience with PreparedStatement?
- Are you familiar with SQL?
