I went through three interviews. First, I spoke with a recruiter to see if I was a good fit. Then, I had a meeting with the department management. Finally, I interviewed with someone who had recently been hired as a graduate. They mostly asked about my Gallup CliftonStrengths and how I apply them in my academic and professional activities, and also whether I lean towards working alone or collaboratively. The interviews felt less about assessing my technical skills and more about getting to know me as a person.

I applied online and did a personality test which I think I passed. Then Gallup contacted me the next day to set up a phone interview, which was two weeks later. After passing that, I had a second phone interview a week after that. I felt good about it but they said they'd let me know in 3-5 days. The very next day, I got an email saying 'thanks but no thanks'. Even though my skills matched the job perfectly, I feel like I was judged by Gallup's 'flawless' process. They didn't ask about my experience, but asked weird questions like 'What was the last thing you bought someone?' and 'Explain what a manager should do in this situation,' which felt insulting since I'm not applying for a management role. I'm not entitled, but it makes me wonder if their hiring system is really perfect, with zero turnover and only successful hires. Honestly, my tip is to avoid them. It felt like I was a guinea pig for training HR hires, and they had already made up their minds. You'll feel insulted and helpless. I answered intelligently, even to questions irrelevant to the job description. Don't say you weren't warned.

The whole process took 10 weeks. It started with an online questionnaire, then two phone questionnaires. After that, there was a 30-minute call with the recruiter. Then, I had a coaching session and a phone interview with the hiring manager at the local office. Finally, it wrapped up with a 3-hour in-person interview with 5 employees. It's a really long process, which I think might cause them to lose out on good candidates.
