First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Galeries Lafayette.
Stagiaire Achat
First, there was a phone call where we discussed GL's organizational structure. Then, I met with the purchasing director to talk about the different tasks and skills required for the internship, to see if I was a good fit. They got back to me pretty quickly after that.
- Do you know GL's internal organization and its various brands?
Purchasing Assistant
It was pretty straightforward, first I had a meeting with the manager, then one with HR, and then a whole day of introduction at the main office. They asked questions in both French and English, covering personality and personal experiences. All interviews were via video call. We couldn't negotiate the salary.
- Can you describe a tricky negotiation situation?
- What do you know about fashion?
- Are you concerned with CSR initiatives?
Acheteur
- What are your main criteria for choosing a supplier?
Sales Associate
The HR interview went really well, so well that she rushed the next interview by introducing me to the manager. The manager barely looked at me, made a weird noise while looking at my CV. I felt discriminated against for the first time. I was overqualified for the role, but even though the HR person said she'd give me an answer in less than 24 hours, I heard nothing. After looking at the sales staff, I realized there was no diversity... not a great image in 2024.
- Would you be bothered by taking a position at a lower hierarchical level than your previous roles?
